I don’t need an excuse to set a table, but Easter is always a wonderful occasion. That long weekend, full of sunshine (hopefully), family, warm hot cross buns and homemade lemonade. If I was going to be categorised as a season, I would most certainly be autumn. But spring brings fresh and new, it means I can get out in my garden and eat outside. Sitting outside in the morning, with my cup of tea and watching the ground warm up, is one of my favourite things.
This weekend saw my husband’s parents come over for lunch, so I took it upon myself to set an Easter table whilst we still had the wonderful weather. It also gave me an excuse to show off my amazing new suit, kindly sent to me by Boden, my garden may not be blooming yet. But I am most certainly in to florals in a big way, this suit shouts it from the rooftops. Here’s the link to the trousers and the jacket if you fancied it yourself. You can see it in full appreciation over on my Instagram.
My main aim was to keep this tablescape clean and fresh, like spring. So I chose a limited colour palette of yellow and green. Kept my place mats natural and added this amazing grass table runner from Sainsbury’s. I added some beautiful blooms from my local florist and some sneaky chocolate eggs. Although my little only licked them and then put them in a heap. She’s not one for chocolate and apparently we weren’t allowed any…
I made a simple warm salad, we had some roast chicken and warm baguettes, chips and hot cross buns. Maybe not traditional, but it was beautiful all the same. I think occasions like Easter are more about family and being thankful, simply getting my family around my table makes me happy. I love entertaining and seeing people enjoy there food. I hope you all have a great Easter, if you create something like this make sure to tag me with #mothercookermade.
