Green Juice

Green Juice | The Mother Cooker

A green juice is something that I never would have made. But on my recent trip to America, I decided to try one at the Farmer’s market. It was delicious, so when I got home I vowed to drink more. Juicing is a great way to pack in a heap of goodness, as they are quick to make and drink.  A lot of raw fruit and vegetables have many more vitamins than cooked ones. This recipe makes a decent amount of juice, so either freeze some bottles or it will last in the fridge for a couple of days in some. Just make sure to give it a good old shake before you drink it. Green juice can be simple or packed with lots of different things. I’ve tried to keep a decent balance here with only five ingredients.

I’ve used red apples for sweetness as I found green apples overpowered everything when I recipe tested. Although it did make for a highly refreshing flavour, so the decision is completely up to you. I think juice is a very personal thing and testing and adapting what you prefer is a great thing to do. I don’t remove the skin from the apples either, as most of the nutrients are held there. The great thing about this recipe is that you don’t need a juicer. Just whip it all up in a decent blender and you are good to go. Ingredients
  • 1 small pineapple
  • 2 red apples, cored
  • 1 pear, peeled and cored
  • Handful of kale
  • Half an avocado
  • 200ml water
 Directions
  1. Add everything to a blender, whizz until smooth, serve over ice.
