A Spring Tablescape
Today I held a lunch for my Mother and Mother-in-Law, after spending Mother's day with my own daughter and being spoiled by my Husband. I planned to spoil the ladies in my life on a different weekend. I thought it was a great opportunity to set the table for Spring and share with you how you can create something at home. A beautiful tablescape doesn't have to expensive and can easily be achieved with a few simple things.
Always, always fresh flowers. I tend to go for wild flowers, as they are not only cheaper than traditional flowers, they last a long time, smell beautiful and create stunning floral displays. I got all of the flowers pictured, plus some cheekily pruned blossoms from my local park, for £13. That equated to one large vase, two jam jars and enough left over to dress my plates. Eucalyptus is one of my favourite things to buy, it smells so beautiful and really is effective.
Investing in a complete table set is invaluable, I picked up this simple but stunning monochrome one for when I hosted Christmas. The set only cost £20 and I keep it separate from my every day plates so it feels extra special. It is still available online and you can find it here.
A beautiful set of napkins can also make your table setting look a lot more expensive, I swear by TK Maxx for things like this. These napkins are by Ralph Lauren and cost me a mere £8 for the set. I think you can really find some gems in there if you have a good look around. I always make my way to their clearance section.
Beautiful glassware doesn't have to cost the earth, Ikea have such a stunning range of cocktail glasses. I am always tempted to pick up different shapes when we take a trip there and these ones are only £1.75 each. I always place a tumbler glass for water on the table too, these blue ones were from John Lewis.
I made my name tags out of the brown paper my flowers were wrapped in, my placemats are from Ikea along with my cutlery. Anyone can make a stunning tablescape, you don't have to spend the earth. Invest some time in picking your essential bases, take in to account that if you buy a neutral dinnerware set, you can swap colours out with flowers and napkins. Then it doesn't get overly expensive, you can even just swap things out with the seasons. I hope I've helped inspire you and lead you to some bargains along the way.
