Breakfast Smoothie
For a long time, the main meal I struggled with when Evie went on to full solids was breakfast. I'll admit, for a long time she just ate wholewheat toast. But I felt so bad that her first meal of the day was boring bread, that I looked in to different ways of adding a little more excitement. Evie loves fruit, I think she'd be happy eating it for every meal. But like every toddler, she has her favourites. She'll eat a heap of strawberries, pears, bananas, grapes, blackberries but try and give her a blueberry and most the time she'll spit it out. So I disguised a way of mixing the faves with the 'spitjects' as I call them.
At 20 months old, she still needs 10oz of milk a day. She has whole milk now, which I split up in to two lots of 5oz. One in the morning and one before bed, this breakfast smoothie contains 5oz of milk, along with a handful of fruit and some oats. Perfect day starter for an over active toddler, she might even have it with toast ha! I use frozen fruit, it saves money and food waste, seriously how quickly does a punnet of strawberries turn. I always get the summer fruits berry medley and morello cherries. I also love that I know exactly what sugars are going in to her smoothie, unlike bottled versions. I also bought one of these blenders whilst they were on offer and they are great and small.
